Exploring the Nevi’im: God is not silent
This course unpacks the books grouped in the Hebrew Scriptures as the Prophets (Nevi’im). The grouping arrangement differs from that used in the Christian canon of the Old Testament. We will examine who God selects to be His spokespersons, the nature of what these spokespersons proclaim, and how these messages become a significant part of Scripture.
At the end of the course, it is expected that participants can:
-
Understand the purpose, place, and function of the Lord’s prophets for God’s people.
-
Identify the books that are recognised in the Hebrew Scriptures as “prophetic books” and how these books advance the message of Scripture.
-
Describe how God reveals His desire for relationship through the lives and messages of the prophets.
-
Recognise influences of the prophets within the culture and teaching of Jesus and the first century church.
-
Apply these biblical teachings to our lives today.
The course will be delivered over 8 live online Zoom classes on Saturday mornings. Each session includes time for seminar-style discussion, engaging with Scripture, and discussing practical applications. You’ll also enjoy the exchange of ideas with and encouragement from fellow believers committed to knowing God better.

The Book of Romans
- Paul Pollard
October – November Saturday mornings,
9.00 – 11.00 am (AEST)
4, 11, 18, 25 Oct & 8,15, 22, 29 Nov '25
$44 (incl GST) Instructor: Paul Pollard
This course is an introductory study to the epistle to the Romans. An exposition of the text will be central, with an eye on the larger flow of Romans. This will entail how Paul's argument works and why he makes certain theological points.
While some passages will receive more attention than others, issues in Paul's culture and ours will be explored, plus his major theological themes. In this process we will learn how Romans relates to our personal lives and to the churches we serve today.
At the end of the course, it is expected that participants can:
-
Understand better Paul's purposes in writing Romans.
-
Share more insights on the role of Jews and Gentiles in the Gospel story.
-
Deepen their understanding of key theological concepts.
-
More confidently articulate the social world of Romans.
