Exploring 1 Corinthians: Life and challenges in the body of Christ

- Keith Gant

Oct - Nov 2024
8 classes @ 2 hrs each
Thursday mornings,
9.30-11.30 pm AEST

This course explores 1 Corinthians. The first century church at Corinth faced various difficult issues – just like many contemporary churches. Believing that Paul’s treatment of these issues is still relevant for us, we seek lessons from 1 Corinthians to help navigate similar situations today.

Course materials include book excerpts and journal articles. These will be provided in pdf format. After the course, it is anticipated that participants can:

  • Describe the historical and cultural context of 1 Corinthians.

  • Explain how principles of biblical interpretation can help unlock meaning and application from New Testament epistles like 1 Corinthians.

  • Show a sound understanding of how certain passages in 1 Corinthians can be applied responsibly to help improve church life today.

The course will be delivered over 8 live online Zoom classes on Tuesday evenings. Each session includes time for seminar-style discussion, engaging with Scripture and discussing practical applications. You’ll also enjoy the lively banter and exchange of ideas with fellow believers committed to knowing God better.

Dates: Thursday mornings – 3, 10, 17, 24 Oct; 7, 14, 21, 28 Nov (break on 31 Oct).
